Ibuprofen masks pain and interferes with healing. Interestingly Mr. Woods is only taking it “preventatively” (according to a Wall Street Journal article) meaning that it might not be treating his pain at all. But if it is, it can allow him to hurt himself worse that he otherwise would have and eventually the pain will break through and he likely will have damaged himself in the process. A quote corroborating this point of view from Robert Klapper, the chief of orthopaedics at Cedars Sinai in Los Angles says it well: “Please don’t emulate this. You need to respect the pain, because what it’s telling you is to stop.” And the “inflammation” it blocks is part of the healing process, not something to be suppressed – which is why these drugs significantly slow and interfere with healing (and they are toxic to your gut, kidneys and other organs systems as well). Please see a link to our No Pills No Pain treatment paradigm for an even fuller explanation as to why you should #avoid ibuprofen and similar drugs.
